the most common source of entertainment and news in use today but not many
think of using it in an energy efficiency way. Apart from the price and brand,
one must ensure that television set that one is buying is energy-efficient.
While most electronic gadgets come with a energy star rating, it only indicates the power consumed by
a television in stand-by mode, which actually accounts for a small amount of the total power consumed by it. Some television models touted to be launched in 2010 are said to save up to 40% of the power consumed by television sets of today and by 2012, there will be sets that save up to 65% .

Interestingly, LCD models are more energy efficient than their plasma
counterparts. An LCD of the same size as a plasma saves power by almost 60%.
