Are We Burning up Our Planet Earth- Mercury Rising

2010  is turning  out to be  the  warmest ever in recorded  history, with the first four months reporting  an average  temperature of 13.3° Celsius  which is 0.69° above the 20th century   average.

Blame deforestation
Trees  disappearing is the main reason  for the rise  in temperature.

Yugratna Srivastava, who  addressed the

United Nations  Climate  change summit  in New York,  speaks out,”  Our  world  is   heating  up. If  you visit to glacier or Polar Regions,  there you can  have  an opportunity to see the melting ice. We have to be blame for this climate change. Humans don’t hesitate to cut trees. There are many forests with hardly any tree left. People  don’t realise  the seriousness  of this issue. Deforestation will not stop till we change the mindset of the people around us. Look at the amount of rain fall  We had in the  last couple of years   and  you ‘ ll  get the answer.”

Blame skyscrapers
The is true that sky scrapers are responsible for rise in temperatures. Debi Goenka, Executive Trustee,Conservation Action Trust(CAT)  says,” High- rise  buildings are obstructing sea breezes. With the natural breeze  being obstructed, we are not getting the cooling effects. With the  greenery  being disturbed  and concrete building on the rise, we see the ‘heat island' effect.  This results in 2-3 temperature  rise from  what  it should have been.”

Blame global warming
The rise in temperatures is due to our world becoming a hotter place to live. AK Ghosh, director, center for science and  environment  points out,”  The Himalayan glaciers  are not melting,  but other glaciers  are certainly are, Glaciers in the Europeans Alps  and Scandinavian region have  lost their thickness up to 11 meters, Confirming that glowing warming  is the happening  industrial emissions  are  one of the  main causes of the changing  environmental  pattern.” Yes, We   are making our planet hotter. Sanjay Monga, expert points out, “The number of air conditioners is on the rise.  I would blame all of us for the change, I would not blame the government. With the changing lifestyles there is a change in the climate too.  It’s all about rising consumerism.”

Blame Pollution
The weather pattern across the country has been regularly predicted since the past few years. Yelappa Reddy,  environmentalist, Bangalore tell us  why  pollutions is responsible for  rise  in mercury, ”Every year the number of  cars  on the Indians roads  is increasing at a substantial rate .  The government is not doing any thing about it: rather they have allowed more vehicles on the roads. Jam- Packed roads are leading to the accumulation of the carbon- dioxide in the atmosphere, and consequently rise in temperature.”
