Here are 10 tips one might employ to play their part in conserving the environment:

Nature has always been an essential component of our lives, the environment in which we co-exist and survive. The exhilaration one experiences when they are in Mother Nature’s arms, yet in these alarming times nature calls for a cry. The splendour of nature has invariably been seraphic and serene. On this look-out, the United Nations fabricated and designed the World Environment Day which is hosted each year on June 5. This day intrinsically educates human beings around the world to conserve the environment.   Picture taken in some rare parts of The Great Himalayas. This day is crucial for spreading and propagating awareness to conserve nature and protect the environment. Here are 10 tips one might employ to play their part in conserving the environment: 1. 3R’s- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle- These 3R’s are the fundamentals to preserve the environment through eco-friendly methods. To Reduce the amount of waste generation. To Reuse the items more than once before discarding...

Global Warming may dull basmati aroma

Image
A small experiment by Indian Agriculture scientists point to the enormous effect global warming could have in the fragrant basmati rice. Basmati, Sanskrit for the fragrant one, may lose not just its aroma, the famously long grains may get shorter; say scientist H Pathak, principal investigator; Indian Agriculture Research Institute`s Climate Change Challenge Programme told TOI the Tarawari basmati grown in the institute`s research fields in Delhi did not grow long enough and wasn`t as fragrant as it should have been when cooked. He said global warming may to be blame for the disappointing basmati produced in the 2006-2007 experiment. Temperatures that year crossed the 26 degree Celsius mark

The world is warming more

Rising temperatures, already about 0.8degree Celsius above pre-industrial times. mean the world will struggle to limit warming to below 2 degree Celsius... Last year tied for the hottest year on record, confirming a long-term warming trend which will continue unless greenhouse gas emissions are cut, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) said on Thursday. The first 10 years of millennium proved to be the hottest decade since records began in the 19th century, it said. "The main signal is the warming trend continues and is being strengthened year after year," WMO secretary-General Michel Jarraud said. " The trend, unfortunately, will continue for a number of years but the amplitude will depend on the amount of greenhouse gases released,".

2010 could be world`s warmest year: Report

It is official: 2010 could finish as the warmest year on record, the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has said. It said the January- October period was equally as warm as the firs 10 months of 1998, which had the highest combined land and ocean surface temperature of any year based on NOAA records  dating back to 1880. Both years had a worldwide average temperature of 14.73 degrees Celsius through the first 10 months. The La Nina climate pattern in the Pacific Ocean is significant factor in global ocean temperatures, NOAA said. Global carbon dioxide emissions, the main contributor to global warming, show no sign of abating and may reach record levels in 2010. The study authors found that despite

2100... & it`s water, water everywhere!

Scientists now say that sea level is likely to rise perhaps three feet by 2100 - an increase that, should it come to pass, would pose a threat to coastal regions the world over. The rise would put thousands of square miles of the American coastline under water and would displace millions of people in Asia. How fast is the world`s ice going to melt? Scientists long believed that

Some definitions of Global Warming

With Global Warming making headlines every now and then, here`s giving you some interesting definitions of global warming.............. Global Warming: continuing increase in the average temperature of the air and the oceans.                                If we cannot reverse global warming, how long we run out of party ice? Global Warming: The thing that you blame all of your problems on.                                  Teacher:Why didn`t you do your biology assignment last night?                                 Student: Global Warming                                                       ...

Where have all the butterflies gone? Blame it on Global warming

The impact of global warming is already being seen around the world. North America is the largest victom that is bearing the brunt of Climate change........ The vast North American continent that ranges from Iush  sub-tropical climate of Florida to the frozen ice and tundra of the Arctic, are facing the wrath of global warming. Incidentally, within these extremes are two wealthy industrialized countries with diverse ecosystems at risk. Yet the United States and Canada are two of largest global emitters of the greenhouse gases that contribute to a global warming climate. Examples of all 10 of the "hot-spot" categories can be found in this region, including changes such as polar warming in Alaska, coral reef bleaching in Florida, animal range
